At a glance it might not seem like the Destiny 2 poster offers a ton of details, but looking deeper could offer some clues as to the sequel’s scope. For example, the upper left hand corner seems to suggest that the Destiny 2 beta, which is rumored to run in June, will be PS4 exclusive or will be available first for PS4 gamers. It’s this slightly innocuous detail that has fueled speculation that Destiny 2 might follow in its predecessor’s footsteps and offer exclusive content to Sony’s platform....

According to a new report, that hype has very much paid off. A report by industry analysis firm SuperData Research states that Destiny 2 had a “solid release” on PC and that the game has proved to be “very successful” on the platform. Although the SuperData report does not specifically state how much money Destiny 2 PC has made, it does reveal that “high attach rates” for the deluxe version of the game helped to drive the average selling price up....

Destiny 2’s Dares of Eternity activity is one of the best yet, and it perfects the formula of Season of Opulence’s Menagerie, a seasonal activity that became the benchmark for what Bungie wanted to achieve. Dares of Eternity is fun and it has great gameplay mechanics, but that’s not all, because players can also run into a special bonus encounter called Lightning Round that further increases the rewards if completed....

There is a lot included in Season Passes, and even more content is included with the associated Season as well, which unfortunately marks Destiny 2 as a game where players experience the so-called FOMO (fear of missing out). Starting with the Destiny 2 update that deployed this week, there are some pretty significant changes coming to the game in the first few months of 2018. Masterwork armor and retooled raid rewards were the highlights of this week’s Update 1.1.2, with the next update coming at the end of February and focusing on strikes and social features. On February 27, Update 1.1.3 will add Nightfall Strike scoring and high score tracking, a rework of the emblem/aura system with a stretch goal (which may slip to a further update) of bringing unique rewards to the game for completing the Nightfall....

Transmogrification, or Transmog, is the generally used term in games for the ability to alter one’s appearance without affecting the stats they’ve acquired from high-level equipment. Games like World of Warcraft and Diablo offer this ability at a relatively low entrance point. In each of those games, players need only spend gold (albeit sometimes a huge amount) in order to customize their appearance, but so far it seems like transmog in Destiny 2 is going to be more complicated than it should be....
