Bungie has revealed that any weapon mods Destiny 2 players have in their inventory will become universal, multi-use mods. What this means is that if a player has a Rampage mod in their inventory, then that mod will be unlocked as an option for every weapon. If they want to put the Rampage mod on a Sniper Rifle they can, and they can do the same for a Hand Cannon....
There is still a lot more for Destiny 2 players to look forward to thanks to The Dawning event, releasing today after the weekly reset. The event is a recurring one that is meant to celebrate the holiday season within Destiny 2, often with a lot of cookies and new rewards. This is also a time to bring back old classics, and Destiny 2 datamining suggests The Dawning’s Glacioclasm fusion rifle will be OP this year thanks to new perks being added to its pool....
Since their introduction as seasonal pinnacle weapons, the Revoker sniper rifle, Mountaintop grenade launcher, and Recluse submachine gun were clear examples of weapons that have defied the game’s constantly shifting meta, retaining popularity with fans who have unlocked them and being strong options in most Destiny 2 activities. To combat these weapons and push players to discover new weapons, Bungie announced a sunsetting plan in 2020, which came to fruition with the Beyond Light expansion last November....
After that, this trend has continued for Destiny 2, with other mysterious things happening in the game that were meant for players to discover on their own. The second secret exotic quest in Destiny 2 was that for Outbreak Perfected, and the mission itself was called Zero Hour, which entailed an encounter with a Guardian-eating robot that was worthy of the best horror games. Another such mission came with the Season of the Chosen, when Bungie opened up a door in the strike called The Arms Dealer....
Void 3.0 changes to Destiny 2 classes are great, and they are heralds of what Light subclasses can be when they all get reworked, but this direction is not necessarily sustainable. The reason why the new Void subclasses are so powerful is they have plenty of Aspects and Fragments, or even Exotics in some cases, that tie the whole thing together for uptime on all abilities. Having a sandbox where players can constantly spam grenades, powered melee attacks, and class abilities is not really optimal for the sake of balancing other classes, and Bungie might have to take a step back....
Naturally, each season features more than a few secrets for players to uncover at specific moments, and this season looks to be no different. One of the big reveals this season is the return of the summer event known as Solstice of Heroes. While Bungie has yet to discuss the returning event, many have assumed it’ll likely play similarly to past years. However, it appears that some assets including the armor set is already inside the game files, which dataminers have since uncovered and shared online....
Some players, however, have begun exploring the earlier parts of Spire of Stars to see if there are any secrets to unlock. And as is typical fashion for a Destiny or Destiny 2 raid, there is at least one secret chest for players to find. The first known secret chest in Spire of Stars is in the platforming section of the raid lair, which has the team ascending a bunch of horizontally-spinning “fan blades....
In an unprecedented move, Bungie not only laid out its plans for thr next few weeks but also rough ideas that it has in the planning phase for later in 2018. Needless to say, this is the most open Bungie has ever been and there’s a lot of information for players to digest. For the time being, however, the first Faction Rally of season 2 has also finally arrived this week....
Subtle changes appeared at first, with Taken Blight appearing on many of the structures and buildings around Destiny 2’s Dreaming City, though players will find that this week, things have gotten worse. With Petra now moving to a new zone in Rheasilvia, players will see what appears to be a Taken blight all around them in the air. For now, the effect is purely visual and doesn’t appear to have any negative impact on gameplay....
Fans’ first tease of the Leviathan challenge mode comes thanks to a database update with five new emblems. One of those emblems, Glory to the Emperor, is assumed to be the emblem for completing the Leviathan raid on Prestige Difficulty, while the others seemingly correspond to the upcoming Challenges. As expected, Leviathan will offer Destiny 2 players a challenge during each of its four main sequences. For completing the Royal Pools Challenge, players will unlock the Splish Splash emblem....
According to Smith and Project Lead Mark Noseworthy, Destiny 2 players can expect this “Trials-like” game mode within the sequel’s launch window. Whether that means the first week, the first month, or before the end of 2017 is unclear, but it sounds as though the two understand how important an ultra-competitive Crucible mode is to their series’ popularity. Some had speculated that Trials of Osiris, or a mode like Trials, would be held for the forthcoming Osiris DLC, which is the first of two planned expansions for Destiny 2....
In the developer’s weekly blog update, Bungie expanded on the news from earlier this week that the weekly Crucible bounties from Lord Shaxx would get an update, saying that Shaxx’s bounties won’t be the only new ones. If players travel across the room from Shaxx to the Crucible Quartermaster, they will find new bounties that will let them access old gear: Those Trials of Osiris weapons from Year 2 include the Doctrine of Passing auto rifle and the Inward Lamp scout rifle, two of the more popular options....
Fresh Troops - Some enemy squads have been fortified with additional reinforcements. Trickle - Recharge of abilities is significantly reduced. Melee Kill Bonus - Melee kills are worth more points. Players will be able to use the same general strategy common in Challenge of the Elders to drive up the score for this week: kill enemies exclusively with melee and then damage the boss until another wave spawns in. Repeat this process until the point deduction timer goes into effect and then damage the boss enough to stop the timer....
[HTML1] Despite the fact that the upcoming Destiny expansion House of Wolves doesn’t have a new raid, many Destiny players are still excited for the other new content arriving with the DLC. One of those additions is a battle arena called Prison of Elders that will test teams of three as they work together to survive in the new cooperative game mode. So far, Bungie has shared little about Prison of Elders, though that will change tomorrow....
The latest example of this is, in fact, the Destiny 2 rendition of the classic King’s Fall raid from the first Destiny, the old Oryx’s Basketball Court Easter egg. This mysterious room was hard to get into in the first game and offered virtually nothing of interest to the players, other than an opportunity to dunk some magical orbs in a game of impromptu basketball. In Destiny 2, however, completing the puzzle will unlock the Touch of Malice Catalyst....
The maintenance began at 11am Eastern, and will conclude 5pm Eastern. During this time, players will not be able to log onto Destiny at all. Furthermore, fans can expect some restricted access to Bungie’s website as well as the Destiny companion app. Server maintenance for online-only games like Destiny is certainly nothing new, and it’s nothing fans should be worried about. Having said that, it’s unclear what exactly the maintenance is for, though the most likely scenario is that it is in preparation for next week’s Crimson Days event, and the other content coming in Destiny’s February update....
