Destiny 2 is leaping ahead of the curve this time around with an in-depth overview of some of the most important changes coming on August 23, some of which were expected, while others may yet prove downright unprecedented. The latest blog post reveals information about Arc 3.0’s new Super abilities, Fragments, and more, as well as the general idea of what Bungie is attempting to accomplish here. The announcement for Destiny 2’s fall expansion and second year of content came via a very short teaser trailer tweeted out by Bungie and the official Destiny Twitter account. The brief teaser shows Cayde-6 and a Guardian transmatting into the Reef, which is all that can really be confirmed about the coming expansion at this point. There were rumors last week that the DLC would include a new enemy faction and enemy type, but that also pegged the title of the DLC as the Summoning of the Nine so it’s unknown how accurate any of that supposed leak may be....

Strange Coins used to drop anywhere in Destiny 2’s playlist activities in the middle of Season of the Lost, which is when the 30th Anniversary Pack was released. This held through for the remainder of the Season, and players enjoyed this way of obtaining this Dares of Eternity currency because it allowed them to complete other tasks for more gear and bounties, and then go back to Xur’s game show-like activity when needed....

Destiny 2’s Year 5 is capitalizing on the legacy of its previous expansions and seasonal releases by forging new narrative threads and taking older ones to new heights, which is increasingly satisfying the more players are invested in the story. While Year 4 was about discovering morally gray areas for Guardians to operate in and find new allies, Year 5 seems to be about driving those characters to fight their inner demons ahead of Lightfall and The Final Shape....

Because Destiny 2 is constantly evolving, it also means there is room for improvement, as the frequent iterations of Trials of Osiris show. It may be useful for Destiny 2 to look at what Outriders achieved with its free New Horizon update in terms of endgame content and character customization, which take that looter-shooter back on track after it launched last April. Specifically, Outriders managed to add a useful feature to its endgame content that prevents players from booting team members during an Expedition, and it also added a really clever transmog system....

The “glitch” was first noticed by players who found that the progress of unlocking Solstice gear in Destiny 2 changed from one character to the next as they burned through the event’s new challenges. Looking into this issue on behalf of players, Bungie community manager dmg04 asked the developers about this and confirmed that the change in progression time for unlocking the Solstice glow armor for a second and third character is intentional....

Though changes often come in fast and hard in Destiny 2, they’re not always properly documented. The recent Destiny 2 hotfix that fixed various exploits, didn’t mention anything regarding nerfs to Xûr reputation gains. Reddit poster look0out1 ended up figuring out that changes had been made to Dares of Eternity all on their own, and while it is possible that this is a bug, the nature of said changes suggests that this might not be the case....

The biggest data drains come from downloading games or updates, as one might expect. When it comes to how much data users are using when they’re just playing games, the numbers vary depending on the game. And many people have to worry about data caps while playing video games, although this obviously isn’t an issue for those with unlimited data or those who just don’t play frequently. But daily Destiny 2 players with limited data may have something to worry about, according to a new report from telecom comparison site WhistleOut....

One of the biggest points of contention in the original Destiny was that, for a game clearly influenced by MMORPG titles, it had a stifling lack of character and weapon customization - essentially, Destiny’s end-game often felt like there were only a few viable class combinations, and the less said about the notorious Gjallarhorn, the better. That seems set to change in Destiny 2, though, as a Reddit user by the name of EireneRR4_ recently attended the Virgin Media Destiny 2 Beta Experience and came away with some extremely interesting information....

Inspired by feedback from solo players who weren’t so keen on the Rift game mode being chosen for the most recent Iron Banner event, Destiny is going to be getting new mixed mode playlists that restrict access to solo players not in a fireteam. According to Bungie, these playlists will be available sporadically on the weekly rotators in the game’s Director screen. The goal with these freelance modes is to help foster an even playing field for players....

As veterans of Destiny 2 will know, the Cabal Leviathan was an immense planetoid-eating spaceship that was particularly noteworthy for its opulent architecture. Reddit user yoshisaura was inspired by the Cabal Emperor’s penchant for luxury while preparing their Leviathan-themed PC build, which features trimmings and color choices that Leviathan and Menagerie fans will find remarkably familiar. Usually Trials takes place on one map for an entire weekend, but there have been weeks where matches have rotated between a couple different maps as well as some bigger themed rotations....

Destiny’s Patch 2.0.2 brought something many players have been looking forward to: the Gunsmith in the Tower is now selling 5 Weapon Parts in exchange for 250 glimmer. However, because Weapon Parts are now easier to come by, the economy has slightly been adjusted to reflect it; turning in 25 Weapon Parts to gain reputation with a faction will now give 50 rep instead of 75 rep. This change will help many players overcome the Weapons Parts drought, but the bulk of the update deals with fixes to the Crucible, most notably to PvP quests and bounties....

The tease comes ahead of the full reveal for the Age of Triumph live event, which developer Bungie will host on its Twitch channel this Wednesday, March 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific. As revealed in the Age of Triumph trailer, the event will feature the “biggest record book yet,” which under closer inspection is shown to be 13 pages long. In comparison, the Rise of Iron book is currently the largest with just four pages....

While curious Destiny fans can check out the full patch notes below, some highlights include the new reputation panel for Faction experience, better rotation of Crucible and Strike maps while in a playlist, and matchmaking for Weekly Heroic Strikes. The update makes it so specific Grimoire cards unlock properly, giving players a chance to dig deeper into Destiny’s story…on Bungie.net. Outside of the fix for the heavy ammo bug – which has been addressed – the update’s biggest change is no doubt the weapon tuning....

The mod, made by Nexus Mods user ‘InterestingMK’, swaps Kara’s model with her original model from the tech demo that inspired Detroit: Become Human. While it is bizarre to see the semi-naked model in the harsh Michigan winter, it is good to see the mod acknowledge how the concept for the game has evolved over time.
