And it very well should! The Crusader can use the Spinning Shield in Diablo Immortal just as well as the Paladin did in the past. To do so requires a specific build and a few tough choices. Thankfully, the leaderboards have given the gamers a glimpse of how to make these choices.
Due to several factors, like gear, skills, reforging, and upgrades, it is impossible to list the exact quantities for many of the numbers detailed here. Any variable number has been replaced with an ‘X’ to signify its potential to change.
Skill Selection
The rotation isn’t too tough. Use Draw and Quarter to grab the attention of several mobs. Then get to a choke point, put down the two buffs, and cast Spinning Shield, forcing enemies to go through it. As they try, spam them with Sacred Fire.
Gear
The bulk of gamers will be hunting down their ideal pieces of legendary gear after taking the time to beat the game. But don’t forget to track down the set bonus pieces after choosing them from the list. A complete set gives three additional effects, on par with the legendary bonuses from the regular gear.
Primary Gear
The immunity from Conjuration of Light is virtually useless until trading it in for extra damage. Use it right before enemies arrive as they get stuck on the Spinning Shields and they’ll be receiving damage on top of damage.

Set Items
After getting these items and skills, the Spinning Shield Crusader has lots of damage but not too much survivability. This is where the set bonus from Untouchable Mountebank can help out, especially against those single target bosses at the end of rifts who aren’t affected by this build’s standard rotation.
Reforge Bonuses
Even for paid players, reforge attribute bonuses can be guided, but are not guaranteed completely. With enough rerolls, any player can eventually get the exact attribute they want, but this will take time and luck, even for those who have the money. Therefore, several different attributes have been listed within the same family, in order of preference.
Family Bonus
Taking out clusters of enemies at a time maximizes the odds of getting a Hydra to pop up and help out. This family bonus is better for this build than most since the Crusader can get the attention of massive waves of enemies and burn them all down at once.
Attributes
Primary attack damage will need to eventually be a focus for players who intend to try and top the Challenge Rift leaderboards so they can take on the final boss. Until then, skill damage should be the most anticipated. Critical Hit damage is also wise to get because of the reduction from Holy Banner.
Gems
There are two kinds of gems to consider for this build: the legendary gems and the regular gems. Players of all income levels will be using this guide, so there are three charts for legendary gems to choose from. Probability demands that even paying for an advantage will still make it tough to get the right gems, so feel free to mix and match from the charts based on the character’s most valuable stats.
Legendary Gems
Gems should be customized based on experience, especially if players have their choice of any 5-Star gem. For the Spinning Shield build, mixing damage with a bit of tankiness is a good move.

The 2-Star gems have similar benefits to the Crusader as the 5-Star gems. Although the Resonance bonus will always be better on those, don’t be pressured to move on from these until acquiring those gems, these are perfect for the build.
Notably, Berserker’s Eye is used by some players that have access to all 5-Star gems. Most builds cannot handle giving up defense for more offense, but the Spinning Shield build thrives on killing all but bosses before they reach the player.
Regular Gem Preference
Given the choice between tanking and damage, elect for extra damage every time, allowing the best defense to be a good offense.
