According to a post on Capcom’s blog from Yuri Araujo, Devil May Cry HD Collection will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One both digitally and at retail on March 13, 2018. The compendium will contain Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition. The official price for the current-gen version of the collection will be set at $30.
For those unaware, Capcom released a Devil May Cry collection for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012 that featured the same three games. At this point, though, the company has failed to explain what improvements would set the forthcoming bundle apart from the collection for last-gen consoles other than the confirmation of each title running at 60 frames per second.
Interestingly enough, the announcement of Devil May Cry HD Collection for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One comes amid recent rumors regarding Devil May Cry 5 being in the works. As it so happens, a huge leak for the unconfirmed sequel made its way online just a couple of weeks ago, revealing gameplay and story details for the prospective fifth entry, as well as a possible release date of late 2018 to early 2019.
All things considered, Capcom’s choice to put out Devil May Cry HD Collection as a current-gen release could very well be a sign of the company gearing up resuscitate the series with sequel number five. After all, it’s totally feasible that the announcement was done today as an appetizer for Devil May Cry 5’s potential debut at PSX 2017 this weekend.
