The bulk of the patch is focused on bug and crash fixes, the likes of which seem to come with any game released on PC in this day and age. Here are the notes supplied via Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s Steam page:

Fixed crashes caused by third-party programs interfering with the game. Fixed crash that occurred after viewing the intro videos. Fixed issue that could cause a crash at the end of the Prague intro scene. Fixed mouse invert setting not being displayed correctly in the options menu.

This is, generally speaking, a good set of day one fixes, if a bit short of a list overall. There’s obviously plenty of other issues with the PC version of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided that Eidos Montreal, or the third party studio Nixxes which is responsible for the port, is hard at work solving.

However, the patch notes do go on from there with some advice for players having performance issues. This may be a tad controversial depending on how defensive players get regarding how others talk about their PC’s oomph. In the end though, this is probably solid advice:

MSAA, or multisample anti-aliasing, is a graphics intensive way of smoothing out visuals. That is to say, if players are running Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on PCs with older graphics cards, then best turn that MSAA off.

It’s odd though that the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided patch notes would specifically reference MSAA, considering the game has several tiers of graphics options and tooltips for players. Why is MSAA specifically being picked out? Would the developers have metrics showing that those dropping lots of frames are running MSAA? That seems like some impressive information for a developer to have, or to make assumptions on. Either way, it’s doubtful that this one note will either reach or help most players with problems. Maybe that will arrive with the next patch.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is available now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
