With that in mind, it’s not all that surprising to hear that the game’s highly anticipated add-on, The Taken King, has managed to sell incredibly well for Activision. So well, in fact, that the publisher has opted to immediately inform consumers that the massive Destiny expansion has done incredibly well for the firm – shattering day-one digital sales for PlayStation in the process.

Toting these accomplishments in a recent press release, CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, expressed his excitement over the sales thus far, and the growing community that surrounds it. With Hirshberg claiming that The Taken King has set a new benchmark for the property, not only in sales but for most concurrent users online yet in Destiny history, it’s safe to say that Bungie’s latest has been a smashing success from both a commercial and critical perspective.

With so much new content arriving with The Taken King, not to mention the amount of buzz it has received across the internet, it’s looking like now more than ever is a good time for gamers to jump into the sci-fi property. The latest update for the title also makes it much more accommodating for newcomers hoping to level up and join their friends, so Bungie is taking appropriate steps to open the community-driven experience to newcomers and deserters alike.

Of course, with new content comes a higher challenge, which is why it’s useful to have a heads up regarding just what players are charging headlong into. Whether looking for strategies to take down the Shield Brothers or securing gear like the coveted exotic sword, there’s a lot for players to adjust to if they haven’t gone hands-on with the game since launch – or ever. That said, there’s no better time to jump in on Destiny than right now, and consumers seem to agree.
