In an interview with VG24/7, Rise of Iron’s executive producer Scott Taylor talked a little bit about the upcoming expansion, confirming first and foremost that the Gjallarhorn will be nerfed, or at least brought into balance for Rise of Iron:

Gjallarhorn was actually already nerfed in Update 2.0, which came just prior to the launch of The Taken King. Bungie hasn’t specified whether those balance adjustments were enough or if it will require further work, but either way, it is clear that Bungie is looking into making sure the exotic rocket launcher does not become the be-all and end-all of Guardians’ loadouts like it was in Year One.

When it came to talking about the new raid, Taylor was pretty tight-lipped on the subject, preferring to keep the mystery intact around Destiny’s latest end-game activity:

When asked if the new Fallen-themed raid would feature a Normal Mode, Hard Mode, and Challenge Mode progression like King’s Fall from The Taken King, he said he was not able to discuss it. He was also asked about bringing old raids like Vault of Glass and Crota’s End forward, a request that exists in the Destiny community that would involve bringing those old raids up to new power levels or by adding additional challenges within them. To that, Taylor said “the conversation goes on” about doing something like that, but Bungie is currently solely focused on the new raid for Rise of Iron.

He did confirm, however, that one of the armor sets Bungie has released in promotional material is in fact the raid armor, specifically this SIVA-themed Titan.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will launch September 20th on PS4 and Xbox One.
