After revealing more details about Destiny 2’s new build crafting systems coming in the Lightfall DLC, a few questions about it remained unanswered. A particularly important issue for the community, for one, was whether custom player loadouts would be account or character specific, but the good news is that it didn’t take very long for Bungie to offer further clarification.

According to official Bungie sources, Destiny 2 players will be able to customize up to 10 unique gear loadouts per character. This should provide ample room both for experimentation and for evergreen character builds that players usually rely on. The reason why some members of the community were worried about this is that having just 10 custom loadout slots across up to three different character classes would almost certainly end up being overly limiting, defeating the feature’s designated purpose.
What’s particularly interesting is that this information wasn’t contained in the recent Lightfall feature overview nor in this week’s Bungie blog post. Instead, it came from the new Destiny 2 community manager Twitter account. This came about following a series of instances where toxic members of the community targeted Bungie developers and community managers, most of whom had enjoyed significant social media followings.
While the former Destiny 2 community manager said harassment is inevitable in some ways, having a dedicated Twitter account with multiple unidentified people posting could alleviate some of these concerns. If nothing else, toxicity at least won’t be directed at specific people, though it’s going to take a while until this new practice shows whether it’s got long-term merit.
Broadly speaking, it seems like the game’s Lightfall DLC is going to bring about a veritable deluge of long-awaited improvements. Destiny 2’s blue engrams will no longer spawn once certain requirements are met, for example. Similarly, players may get access to a proper in-game LFG feature over the course of the year. None of these major changes will be locked behind the purchase of the Lightfall DLC, either, as they will be implemented for everyone across the board.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
