Unfortunately, a glitch with Trials of the Nine will keep those players from obtaining that loot. It’s unclear how long the issue has been present, but it has come to light that there is a way to earn a loss without actually playing a match in Destiny 2.

Apparently, if either team quits out of the Trials of the Nine match during the team introduction screen both teams will be given a loss on their card. Normally, when an opposing team quits they are given a loss and the other team gets a win. However, leaving during the intro results in a loss for both teams.

Credit for this discovery goes to Twitch streamer WishYouLuckk, an active member of the Destiny PvP community. While Wish wouldn’t say how long he has known about the issue, he felt like it was time to bring it to light rather than let others exploit it. Some might ask why anyone would highlight a glitch or exploit, but the more who are aware of a problem the faster it will get fixed.

To that point, not long after he posted the news on Twitter, a Bungie dev came forward to say he would pass the details along to the Destiny 2 team. Unfortunately, it’s unclear what action will be taken, if any.

Given how carefully Bungie treats Trials of the Nine it’s safe to assume that this glitch has shot to the top of the studio’s list. In most cases, this glitch actually wouldn’t be an issue since no Trials player enters the mode with the goal of losing. However, those that want to troll other teams or streamers now have an easy way to do so.

If Bungie deems the glitch too much of a problem, the developers could even cancel Trials of the Nine for the upcoming week like they did when the Bureaucratic Walk glitch was discovered. But doing so is not a good look for Destiny 2, so perhaps they will work faster to fix the problem.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
