Bungie had promised in the latest “This Week at Bungie” article that reveals will be coming “very soon.” Traditionally, season reveals happen one week before they’re released, but in this case, “very soon” might very well have meant “tomorrow.”

First and foremost, although it is hard to see on low brightness, there appears to be some kind of audio waveform visualization or a histogram in the video. It is, however, static, which lead many to believe that the image represents a pyramid ship fleet with big and smaller triangles forming a wave, as they are commonly depicted. The black background does emphasize the cryptic nature of this teaser and echoes the idea of the “Darkness.”

Looking, or rather listening, intently, r/raidsecrets is hard at work deciphering what this ominous track means. A few avid fans produced a spectrogram from the recording, hoping to find hidden messages. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be a teaser tucked away in the audio. However, the audio itself may be the clue as some users pointed out that the track sounds like the radio emissions from Saturn detected by the Cassini spacecraft. This would fall in line with the Darkness finally encroaching on Saturn around this time since the Saturnian System is where humanity’s most distant footholds lie in Destiny 2.

Teasing Saturn also make sense regarding the ongoing rumors that Titan (a moon of Saturn) will play a part next season and might get completely overrun with Darkness, giving Bungie a story reason to remove the destination, freeing up space and bandwidth in Destiny 2. More specifically, the Arcology has been discussed to play a part next season after fans likened the aesthetics of the latest Bungie news article’s banner to the Arcology from the deep blues, to elegant curvy lines to the glow.

If a destination has to become a “Darkness zone” it is practical for it to be Titan since no Raid or major event like Blind Well or Escalation Protocol takes place there. Plus, it wasn’t utilized in previous DLCs like Io (which is where the Forsaken subclass quest took place) or Nessus (which is where the Barge was placed).

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
