Radiant Dance Machines became popular because of how powerful its interaction with mods like Dynamo and Distribution was when Destiny 2 Hunters could Dodge several times in a row. In fact, slotting mods like Dynamo twice makes for a lot of Super energy gained whenever players use their class abilities, and with Radiant Dance Machines’ ability to grant 4 to 5 Dodges back to back, Super generation became trivial. On the other hand, each Dodge would also reduce the cooldown of all abilities through Distribution, making for a game-breaking combo that got Radiant Dance Machines nerfed soon after.

Destiny 2 content creator Cheese Forever shared a video stating that the same issue is now applying to the Titan’s Icefall Mantle, an underused Exotic that underwent some changes in the 30th Anniversary Pack. Among said changes, Icefall Mantle users gained the ability to cancel the overshield from the Exotic gauntlets at any given time throughout its duration, which was a much-needed quality of life adjustment to make the Exotic worth its slot. However, this came with an issue that’s been recently discovered, which is that activating Icefall Mantle’s intrinsic ability procs the effect of mods like Distribution and Dynamo - just like Radiant Dance Machines.

The problem lies in the fact that Icefall Mantle’s overshield replaces the normal Destiny 2 Barricade, but still acts as the Titan’s signature class ability, which then makes it interact with mods that activate with class abilities. As such, activating and then deactivating the overshield near enemies grants a lot of Super energy and ability energy, including energy for the overshield itself, which can then be used once more in a matter of seconds, perpetuating the loop.

Season of the Lost has been a strange one for Titans, who ended up under the spotlight for insane builds that players have come up with over the months. As shown recently, a Destiny 2 Titan build melts bosses with the use of Stasis and niche interactions with melee attacks and Exotics that boost their damage. In this case, it’s likely that Icefall Mantle will be disabled soon, just like what happened to Radiant Dance Machines.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
