According to official channels thus far, Destiny 2 is set for release on September 8, 2017. However, Blizzard’s Q&A on the Battle.net exclusivity of the title skirted around the issue of a release date altogether. Under the section for where and when Destiny 2 would be available on PC, the developer stated the following:

Although the lack of a release date does not confirm nor deny the September 8 release date, the wording itself is more than a little suspect. Comments from Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards did not help make things clearer, either, first stating that Bungie stated the PC release is “coming soon,” before following up with the cryptic comment that more news will be available “down the road” with regards to the PC release date.

Meanwhile, an official press release from Activision made it clear that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Destiny 2 would see release in September, but the PC release of the game was kept separate. “Additionally, Destiny 2 will be available on PC at retail and as the first third-party game to be offered digitally via Battle.net, Blizzard Entertainment’s online gaming service,” read the release.

Blizzard has already discussed the reasons behind the decision to host Destiny 2 on Battle.net, explaining that allowing the game to sit within the platform would allow Bungie to focus on the development of the game itself, rather than force the creation of a new network client. Although this should help reduce any potential delays from bringing the game to PC, fans hoping to play the game on their system of choice have grown concerned over the noncommittal answers given over the PC release date alongside these other recent announcements.

At the moment, however, the status of the PC version of the game is yet to be verified, but stay tuned for any confirmation either way. In the meantime, there are always other impressive reveals surrounding Destiny 2, such as those extra three character subclasses coming to the game.

Destiny 2 is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting September 8, with a PC release to follow shortly thereafter.
