Bungie announced in its weekly blog that it will be reducing the required amount of EAZ miniboss kills by half in a patch coming next week to Destiny 2, bringing the total to 50 instead of 100. In addition, completing the final boss round will grant an additional 5 points of progress. That incentive to finish an EAZ run appears to be a direct counter to a problem occurring in EAZ matchmaking that is seeing many players leaving the activity once the final boss round begins because players are finding it more efficient to back out and load into the activity again in order to tackle minibosses from the beginning rather than stick around through the final boss.

This should drastically speed up progress, encouraging players to play the activity to completion as intended. Even a bad run of the European Aerial Zone should result in three to five miniboss kills, so taking that into account plus the added bonus for defeating the final boss, players should be able to complete this step of upgrading the Majestic Solstice armor set in five full runs or less.
The update bringing the change, known as Destiny 2 Hot Fix 2.5.1.1, will deploy on Tuesday, August 13th. Bungie will perform backend maintenance in preparation for the update on Monday, August 12th with no downtime expected. On the day of the update, August 13th, Destiny 2 will go offline at 9:45 a.m. PDT with all players being kicked back to the title screen at that time. At 10:00 a.m. PDT the update will begin rolling out to all platforms and regions. By 11:00 a.m. PDT all maintenance is expected to conclude.
Also included in this update are changes being made to the game to extend the content calendar for Season of Opulence in light of the delay to the Shadowkeep expansion such as extending Moments of Triumph. It should also fix an issue where the two Crucible event emblems, Prismatic Inferno and Wolves unleashed, will properly appear in the Collections tab.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
